Last Legs

My poor ’84 Toyota Tercel is three years older than I am, and it’s really held up well. However, over the past several years it has been slowly falling apart. I try to hold it together as best I can but sometimes the most random problems occur. Last night I got in the car, got ready to drive away, and felt the gas pedal disconnect. Everything appears to be intact, it just doesn’t connect to the actual control mechanism, instead flaccidly dangling on its hinge.

The good news is that, because I couldn’t see well enough in the dark to figure out how to fix it, Amir let me borrow his car to get home. Which means I got to drive the Mini Cooper. Definitely a lot of fun.

As far as the Tercel is concerned, I am going to look at it today and try and see if I can figure out how to reconnect the pedal. I just hope that something didn’t physically break, because that would really screw me over this week.
