Rachel is a big fan of the Harry Potter books, managing eventually to convince me to read the series myself. Naturally, she’s been super-excited about the upcoming film adaptation of the sixth seventh book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, so we planned on seeing it when it comes out July 15th.
Last night, after we were settled into the soporific embrace of our bed, Rachel realized that July 15th is in fact this week. Despite the fact that once settled into bed, Rachel becomes determined not to leave it for anything, she sprang from the covers as if electrified and scampered off to the office. I listened in confusion for a few minutes before hearing the sounds of her waking up the computer and connecting to Skype to organize a movie outing this weekend with our unsleeping friends.
Again, moments from sleep, Rachel left the bed, ran to the computer, and connected to Skype so she could get people to go see the new Harry Potter movie with us, leaving me in the bedroom with an emotional blend of incredulousness and amusement. Have I ever said I love my wife?
Update: I was thinking second-to-last, and wrote seventh. I know it’s the sixth book, honest!

I can’t think of any movie I’d do that for, sleep is just too valuable.
“… upcoming film adaptation of the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince …”
*WRONG*
SHAME ON YOU. NO WONDER YOUR WIFE IS THE TRUE FAN. I BET SHE WOULDN’T GET THAT INFO WRONG. HALF-BLOOD PRINCE IS THE SIXTH BOOK. FRIENDSHIP OVER.
I knew that. No, really, I did.
Hell yeah! Unsleeping friend, right here! Organizing an outing with me (and the others, I guess), is just important enough to get anyone out of bed.
And, amazingly, just important enough for you to actually post a comment on my site! I’m so flattered.
yeah, i decided that since i’ll be losing my campus e-mail anyway, i could just put that in the mail field
You do realize that I am the only one who runs this site, I installed all of the code on the server myself, and I own the server space it’s installed on, and that I already know your email address, right? Literally the ONLY person who can see your email address is me, and requiring one is a great way to cut down on spam (and allows commenters to use Gravitars).
whatever, man. i know you’re a spammer. no way i’m giving u my other emails
also, ur code seems to need work. my most recent reply (and this one) were made Thursday 16, not Tuesday 14.
It’s copying the date from the original comment, which these are all in reply to. -_-
