I ended up writing way too much here, so pick a random paragraph! And headers are different. I’m just beginning to enjoy all the über-features of deviantART with my temporary paid account. Thanks to the Holiday Card Project, I’m enjoying a free month, and I just might end up paying the price to keep it going. w00t.
I’ve really enjoyed my winter break. On the days that I haven’t been working, that is. But CompUSA has been great so far, especially since I got put in charge of the game section.
Heh. There’s a rant. All the computer games are so disorganized, it’s a wonder anybody is able to find a single thing. It was supposed to be by genre, but to really do that effectively you have to know every thing about every game, and then nobody puts the things back right. So Michaela bravely decides to reorganize the entire computer game section, alphabetically. I thought I could finish the whole thing in a day, but so far it’s been three days and I’ve only just made it through the I’s.
Granted I’ve been interrupted countless times and have had to work on other more important things besides this pet project in the meantime, but sheesh. What a job. It doesn’t help that the other merchandising people just put the games back in seemingly random places. Along with every other software title we sell. Aisles I had rebuilt only last week are already beginning to tumble into disrepair. Between that and the careless customers, I’ve got a never-ending job on my hands.
Here’s a thought, the next time you go to a store. If you pick up something to look at it, put it back where you got it. It really isn’t that hard. No, Norton Antivirus does not go with Adobe Photoshop. That difficult for you? Stay near the aisle while you’re browsing, so that at least you’ll put it back close to where it goes. And if you’re going to scatter merch at MY CompUSA, I’ll bean you with a Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop. The Comfort Edition, because it’s heavier. Maybe?
Oh! Oh! For Christmas I got a new graphics card for my box. ATI Radeon 9550, AGP 8x with 256 megs of dedicated DDR RAM. Now Mark’s games can work at full intensity. I’m going to have to buy some graphics-intensive games of my own now. Installing the card myself was so much fun too, especially when everything worked without a hitch. Fear my graphics-intensive screensaver.
I’m also officially fed up with Windows XP Home’s user account system. There’s supposed to be Admin and Limited user accounts, with the Admin being able to modify system files and install software, and the Limiteds just being the everyday users. Too bad for an annoying number of Mark’s games, this isn’t the case. Instead, the permissions get set up so that the files that need to be accessed in order for the game to run, are blocked. I’ve gotten so fed up with trying to fix the problems that I just made Mark into an Admin account. Now I run the risk that he will accidentally tamper with critical files. I’ve heard that XP Pro addresses some of these issues with greater control over user security, but I haven’t found too much information on Microsoft’s website. Heh. Any thoughts?
Here’s something that’s just been hitting me recently. I’m graduating this year. As in, by the first week in June or so, I will no longer be in high school. That means that this fall, I’m going to be at college full time. Woah. Everybody keeps saying how it’s such an adjustment and blah, but I’m not so sure. I’ve been taking community college classes and I haven’t had any huge issues with the workload, and don’t try to tell me that community college classes are inferior or easier than four year schools. That’s simply not true.
I just wanna be a little kid foreva…with Rachel, because I love her. Although if you think about it, being a teenager seemed scary to me ten years ago. It’s all about what phase of life you’re in at the time, I guess, and I’m about to enter into a new one. I can vote this fall; of course, after the presidential election.
Whew. I’ve probably typed out too much for anybody to consider reading it. Blame it on all the new features.
