I Kissed Rachel Today in 2003

It was a year ago today! Only last year it was on a weekend, and we were camping with Rachel’s family and her church’s Pathfinder club (that’s like Boy Scouts). So many things have happened in our lives since then, but going through them has helped to make our relationship stronger. It has grown and developed so much in that time. This really isn’t our “anniversary” though, since we had been going out for a while before this, and were very close friends before that. We really should calculate back and try to pick a date, but we’d have to write it on a calendar or something so we can’t forget again. Heehee…

It took us such a long time before we got up the nerve to actually kiss each other. When we first held hands, our mutual best friends were making such a big deal out of it. What’s especially cool though is that these little things still are big deals. I still get butterflies in my stomach when I’m about to see her or we’re sitting close together. Every kiss still carries that special meaning with it. I really think that’s awesome. I love Rachel so much, and that has only grown deeper over time.

While I’m on the subject of Rachel, we got to see each other this past weekend. That makes three weekends in a row, which is amazing considering this school year. I suppose it helps that we both drive now. Miraculously, she didn’t have to work on Saturday night like she usually does, and I was able to drive up there for the weekend. We even got to go out on Saturday night, which we haven’t in a while. Mexican restaurant that she didn’t like in the end because of all the potatoes, and we saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, which was alright. As far as I’m concerned, everything was great, because I was doing it with Rachel. I wanted to get some pictures of the two of us together, but we ended up missing that part. I did get one of just her though, which is okay because she’s beautiful!

Now that most everybody who started reading this either stopped or is contemplating the distance from their computer to the bathroom… Maybe this journal needs a “Mushiness Advisory” sticker. But I’m actually trying to post some of the pictures I’ve taken since my vacation. Wonder of wonders, eh?

Doctor’s appointment tomorrow concerning my carpal tunnel syndrome, and sometime in there I’m going to have to “talk” to the folks at Giant, since they’re trying to shove their collective hand down my throat and scoop out my heart. Too bad they can’t since I already took my heart out and gave it to Rachel, so booyah! I’d better call her back now—I’ve written a bunch of stuff already and nobody wants to read all this stuff, especially when it’s this long.

Kisses to Rachel. Y’know, camping is fun….
