It’s late and we have to get an early start on our drive back home tomorrow so this is going to be a bit short. We went back to the house we ended on yesterday and finished the job, as well as helped a few other folks lift some things. In the second half of the day we tackled a house from start to decently well-finished.
FEMA has contracted massive claw trucks for gathering up the debris piles we make that just come down the street and take whatever they can reach. It’s impressive watching them grab and crush enormous amounts of junk.
I think our whole group felt like today was what we all hoped to accomplish when we decided to go on the trip. We were in the right place at the right time to help people and show them some love. As a group, we’ve worked well together and all jumped in at different times to make sure something got done.
It is sad to see this trip coming to an end. I wish we could have stayed longer, but I think we made a strong use of the time we had. Hopefully the few people’s lives that we were able to touch this week are improved, even if only a little.
