Parents are the masters at creating vicious cycles for their kids. I can’t stand it. For some reason, they think that because you’re better off then they were at your age, you’re somehow getting a wonderful deal. I’m sorry, but that sucks. Parents don’t realize that the world changes between their time and ours. And if you had to work so hard to get where you are today, don’t you want to do everything you can so that your kid can go farther and do better than you? We’re not lazy bums that are just going to go to college and pass out.
It’s cruel. I don’t understand how parents can stand by and observe their child’s suffering, and think the kid is learning “valuable lessons.” This is far beyond bailing out some loser. This is about not obstructing somebody who is doing their very best to get somewhere with their life.
