Project 52

I am not one to make New Year’s resolutions, but I did make a commitment to Project 52 back in January. Like a lot of other people I was sick of wanting to update my site, only to put it off until the interesting bit I planned to write about was no longer relevant. My goal as part of Project 52 is to post something new on mistypedURL each week—so far, so good. Of course, now that I’ve definitively said something it will look all the worse if I mess up. Go accountability!

Thanks to Snowmageddon, I spent much of the last week trapped in the house while Rachel was trapped at work. I probably wasted a lot of time but one thing I accomplished was installing Windows 7 on Tess, my home PC. It’s quite the change from XP, but so far it’s all been in a positive direction. Most of the roads have been plowed, not with snowplows but big yellow Tonka Trucks—front end loaders and dump trucks. They’ve cleaned up a lot but in places where people were parked on the side of the street (which was actually in the road) they weren’t able to do much. It makes for some unpleasant surprises when a lane suddenly disappears into snowbanks and stopped vehicles.

Also thanks to the snow I wasn’t able to get to art class on Thursday, but I did finally get last week’s update posted. More interestingly, I retrieved my final pastel painting from Johns Hopkins, where it was on display, and added it to the collection. This was the last one I completed before starting on the waterfall, which I put down at the end of 2004 and didn’t pick up until this past fall. It’s my favorite of the ones I’ve done so far, which is why I gave it to Rachel.

I’m going to be sure to monitor your blog extra-carefully now.

Also, I find it incredible that you are so multi-faceted – art, music, computers, medicine: you never cease to amaze.
